Mr. Zuniga began his musical studies at the age of five at the Instituto Nacional de Musica, Panama (INAM) under the tutelage of professor Roberto Florez. At the age of seventeen he won an audition to join the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama as double bass tutti.
Mr. Zuniga holds a DMA and a MM from the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied under the guidance of Professor DaXun Zhang. He also has a Bachelors degree from the National Institute of Music. He has played in master classes for many bassists, including Edgar Meyer, Harold Robinson, Klaus Stoll, Boguslav Furtok, Edicson Ruiz, Albert Lazlo, Dennis Whittaker, among others. He has participated in music festivals and programs such as Instrumenta Puebla Mexico 2004, Orquesta de Jovenes Latinoamericanos Caracas, Venezuela 2005 and The Pacific Music Festival 2013, (PMF) in Japan. He served as a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama (Tutti), Round-Rock Symphony Orchestra (Principal and Tutti) and Victoria Symphony in Victoria, Texas (principal).
Mr. Zuniga is often invited to give master classes and perform at the Piazzolla Conservatoire, Argentina, Universidad de la República, Uruguay, Universidad del Cuyo, Argentina, Brasilia Music School, Brazil, University of Goias, Brazil, The National symphony orchestra of Brazil in Brasilia , Austin Lyric Opera, Austin Symphony, and the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.
Apart from his orchestral and teaching carrier, Mr. Zuniga often preforms double bass recitals and solo concertos. His most recent solo recordings includes a performance of the Dittersdorf E major Concerto for double bass and orchestra, with the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama, Conduced by Jorge ledezma Bradley, chief Conductor. These recordings are available on platforms such as Spotify, Youtube Music, Amazon, among others.
Mr. Zuniga is currently principal bass with the National Symphony Orchestra of Panama and double bass Professor at the National University of Panama, Panama.
